Standing in the car park you can see the lodge. All members and their visitors must go to the lodge and sign in before commencing fishing. It provides basic shelter with ample seating should you wish to escape from the elements. There is a set of weighing scale to record weights of any fish taken, power and a kettle but no running water.

With your back to the lodge, you look out on to the lake. A small spit just to your right juts out into the lake. Opposite is a similar spit of land, access to this is found by walking back through the car park towards the horse chestnut tree. A little further on your right is a path that leads you out on to the spit. Both spits allow for fishing ahead and on both sides. The small bay formed by the spit in front of the Lodge is covered in lily pads come the summer.

Following the bank past the spit in front of the lodge leads you to the main lake. The path turns the corner passing the platforms to a lawn area. The areas behind the platforms have been cleared to allow for your back cast. In spring these banks are covered in primroses. Standing on the platforms your look across to the long bank. The lawn looks across to an island and the short bank.

To access these banks you must walk back to the lodge. You can retrace your steps past the platforms or follow the path round past what was a stock pond. This pond is not stocked or fished at present. From the lodge, turn left and walk down a pleasant ride which opens out into a small pool. There are a couple of swims here but be careful with your back cast. Follow the narrow path around the side of the pool and you are on the short bank. A platform allows you to fish the pool here.

It is possible that there may be the lakes only source of running water either from a small spring or water seepage. Fish tend to collect here in warm weather. The lake began life as an extraction pit for sand and gravel but was abandoned when excavations hit blue clay. This explains the topography of the ground behind the platforms. The lake relies on rain and groundwater so water levels can drop 600mm to 1000mm depending on the weather. This does cause some problems with weed growth particularly in this pool and water in front of the platforms. The Alliance will be trialling straw bales as a form of biological control during the 2021 season. Working parties may also be held to keep areas clear.

Continuing along this bank, past the island seen from the lawn, it opens out into the main lake with a number of swims. To the rear is a hedge and open farmland. Here you must be observant as there is a permissive path running along the side of the hedge for walkers. Casting can be more challenging on this bank. Continuing to the far corner you now come to the long bank. This bank runs along the full length of the lake with numerous swims to suit all abilities. To your rear is a boundary fence and open farmland currently used for grazing. To the far end of this bank, there is an island. There is no access to any of the islands on the lake at present. A very picturesque setting with plenty of wildlife.
