Angling Trust Volunteering Excellence awards

Dorchester
Lake

We are delighted to have received two Angling Trust Volunteering Excellence awards this month for our contributions to the organisation and running of the recent Angling Trust Tench Masterclass that was held on Dorchester Lake in May.

AOAA River Bailiff and Tenchfishers media team lead Paul Calow was the main organiser for this prestigious event that helps to further the work of the joint Angling Trust Tench Fishing: The Future project, whilst also helping to increase the visibility and exposure of our club and Dorchester Lake to the wider angling world.

Dorchester Tench Social 2024 (21-23 June)

Dorchester
Lake

Thanks to all concerned for the help and support for this event.

Huge thanks to all that participated in this weekend’s Tench Social.

The fishing was surprisingly challenging so very well done to those who caught and especially to Graham Johnson who won both the best fish and best total weight of tench caught.

  • Graham Johnson 11lb 11oz
  • Jamie Johnson 10lb 13oz
  • Jamie Cuzen 9lb 2oz
  • Graham Johnson 7lb 3oz (largest fish)

Whilst the tench didn’t want to play ball this time around the social side of the event was a roaring success with a great group of tincateers embracing the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine, banter and bbq with other likeminded anglers.

Big thanks also to the companies/organisations that kindly sponsored the event through their generous raffle prize donations –

The Tenchfishers, Drennan International, The Hookbait Company, Blake’s Baits, and the TC Conservation Group – your support is greatly appreciated

Dorchester Lake waking up….

Dorchester
Lake

The lake finally woke up for a period this weekend, with 11 carp and a number of tench landed over a 24hr period.

Matt got his rods out late Friday eve and by breakfast the next morning, pretty much in a 12 hour period saw 7 carp landed…Mind blowing session, usual tactics of boilie, boilies and more boilies…

We say it a lot but they love it, so feed it and plenty of it….don’t forget your 10% discount at Blakes Baits.

A few more in an amazing 24 hours at Dorchester.

In typical Dorchester fashion, come Saturday evening the weather changed, temperature dropped, strong winds rattle the bivvies’ and the fish took cover.
